Interested in Contract IT Jobs?

In the market for contract IT jobs? You are not alone. In fact the IT niche has become so popular that job seekers find themselves with tons of competition when it comes to trying to land an interview with a promising employer. The good news is that contract IT jobs are not for everyone and so those willing to give up the so called security of a “real job” have a pretty good chance of finding an awesome IT job that is contracted.

In other words, you get to be your own boss while being paid by top IT companies out there for your services as they are needed. This gives you the flexibility of being able to accept and execute more than one contract job at a time if you so choose. What this means in the long run, is that you get to control just how much money you do or don’t make in any given day, month, or year! Following are some things to consider before deciding whether or not contract IT jobs are right for you.

Medical Coverage

One of the biggest set backs of choosing to work as a contractor is that there is no company to rely on that will pay for your medical insurance as if you were to work there as a full time employee. This is actually considered a benefit to the employer which is one of the reasons some companies choose to hire contractors in the first place, to save themselves money.

Paid Vacations and Overtime

In the contract world there are no paid vacations or over time payments to count on. The good news is that you won’t work as much as a full time employee to begin with, leaving you plenty of time off to do what you like with your free time.

Money, Money, Money

The great news is that those who choose to engage in contract IT jobs usually get paid pretty well for it which makes up for the lack of health insurance, paid vacations, holidays, and overtime. In fact most people who work as contractors do so because they find that they are left with more money in their pockets at the end of the year even after paying for their own insurance and vacations.
